Halloween is the one night of the year when your drinks can be as dramatic as your costumes. A great Halloween cocktail doesn't need a long ingredient list. It needs a bold color, a fun name and a garnish that makes guests say, "Wait, what is that?"

Here are eight Halloween cocktails that are easy to make and fun to serve, from spooky classics to cozy fall favorites.

1. Poison Apple Martini

Sweet, tart and bright green, like the apple that started all the trouble.

What you need: 2 oz vodka, 1 oz sour apple liqueur, ½ oz fresh lime juice. Shake with ice, strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a thin apple slice.

2. Vampire's Kiss

A bubbly red drink that's easy to make and easy to love.

What you need: 1 oz vodka and ½ oz raspberry liqueur in a flute, topped with chilled sparkling wine. Add a raspberry or two.

3. Witch's Brew

A glowing green drink that looks like it came straight out of the cauldron.

What you need: 1 oz vodka, 1 oz melon liqueur, 2 oz pineapple juice. Shake, pour over ice and top with lemon-lime soda.

4. Pumpkin Spice Martini

Fall in a glass, creamy and cozy.

What you need: 1½ oz vanilla vodka, 1 oz Irish cream, ½ oz pumpkin spice syrup. Shake hard with ice, strain, then rim the glass with cinnamon sugar.

5. Blood Moon Margarita

A deep orange-red margarita that fits the night perfectly.

What you need: 2 oz tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 1 oz lime juice, 2 oz blood orange juice. Shake, pour over ice and rim with salt or black sugar.

6. Spiked Apple Cider Mule

A crisp, spicy mule made for chilly October nights.

What you need: 2 oz bourbon, 4 oz apple cider, a squeeze of lime. Pour over ice, top with ginger beer and add a cinnamon stick.

7. Graveyard Mudslide

A chocolatey dessert drink with a creepy “dirt” topping.

What you need: 1 oz vodka, 1 oz coffee liqueur, 1 oz Irish cream, 1 oz cream. Shake, strain over ice and top with crushed chocolate cookies.

8. Bloody Mary

The spooky classic, and a great pick for a Halloween brunch.

What you need: 2 oz vodka, 4 oz tomato juice, a dash of Worcestershire, hot sauce, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Pour over ice and go wild with the garnishes.

Quick tips for serving Halloween cocktails

  • Use color and garnish. Green liqueurs, blood orange juice and a few berries make drinks look spooky without extra work.

  • Batch what you can. Mix the base for a big batch ahead of time and add ice, soda or sparkling wine just before serving.

  • Offer a non-alcoholic option. Kids, designated drivers and guests who don't drink should get something fun to hold too.

  • Drink responsibly and make sure everyone has a safe ride home.

Serving cocktails to a crowd? Skip the shaker.

Here's the catch with Halloween cocktails: when you're hosting 30, 50 or 100 guests, one bartender shaking drinks one at a time means long lines and a lot of waiting. That's where we come in.
